TAKEN INTO COSTODY AFTER FOOT PURSUIT

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police arrested Lamarcus Roberts Anderson, 43, and Laress Leon Nelson, 24, after responding in the early morning hours of Sunday about 1 a.m. to a call at Honda of Melbourne in reference to two suspects seen using sledge hammers to knock out a back wall of the dealership.
Upon arrival of the officers at Honda of Melbourne, located at 1240 S. Harbor City Boulevard, the suspects were spotted getting into a moving van and attempting to pull out of the parking lot.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however it refused to stop and continued out toward US 1.
“A pursuit of the vehicle was initiated until it came to a stop in the area of Morningside Drive and Carolin Street, where the two subjects fled on foot,” said Melbourne Police Lt. Steve Sadoff.
Officers continued to pursue the subjects on foot while a perimeter was established.
“Through the coordinated efforts of all personnel involved in the incident, the subjects were apprehended without major incident or injury to anyone. Further investigation of the incident revealed that the vehicle driven by the subjects was stolen out of the city of West Melbourne.
“This is another great example of the community and their police department working together to solve crime and reduce victimization,” said Lt. Sadoff.
Anderson was charges with Burglary, Grand Theft (Auto), Possession of Burglary Tools and Resisting Arrest without Violence.
Nelson was charged with Burglary, Fleeing/Eluding the police, Grand Theft (Auto), Possession of Burglary Tools, Resisting Arrest without Violence, No Driver’s License and Leaving the scene of an Accident.
