Palm Bay Police Shoots Suicidal Suspect Who Brandished Firearm, Officers Not Injured

Palm Bay police reported that officers responded to 103 Americana inPalm Bay regarding a suicidal suspect at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police reported that officers responded to 103 Americana in Palm Bay regarding a suicidal suspect at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.

“Officers made contact with the suspect, a 70 year old white male, inside the home at which point the suspect brandished a firearm leading to an armed altercation between the suspect and two officers,” said Palm Bay Police Lt. Mike Bandish.

“The suspect was struck and is being treated at Holmes Regional for non life threatening injuries.”

According to Lt. Bandish, the officers involved were not injured and have been placed on paid administrative leave, as is standard in all officer involved shooting. FDLE is investigating the incident.
