BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — East Central Florida is bracing for widespread showers and thunderstorms today, Saturday, July 5th, as forecasted by the National Weather Service in Melbourne. Rain chances are remarkably high, ranging from 70% to 90% across the region, with the greatest coverage expected along the I-4 corridor.
Forecasters indicate that most areas will likely receive between half an inch to one inch of rainfall. However, isolated pockets, particularly near the stalled boundary along the I-4 corridor, could see significantly higher amounts reaching three to four inches.
The best window for rain and storms is anticipated between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., with activity gradually diminishing overnight.

Impacts from this weather pattern include minor localized flooding in saturated, low-lying, or poorly drained areas, as well as frequent lightning strikes and wind gusts up to 45 mph. Residents are urged to use caution, remain weather aware, and prepare for potentially hazardous driving conditions this afternoon and evening.
For those in areas such as Leesburg, Sanford, Orlando, and Titusville, where rain chances top 90%, preparedness will be especially important. Coastal cities including Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Vero Beach, and Stuart also face a high likelihood of storms, with rain chances of 80%.
