BREAKING: National Weather Service In Melbourne Issues Urgent Fire Weather Alert

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued an Urgent Fire Weather Alert as much drier air with gusty west to northwest winds will increase the fire danger across east central Florida.
URGENT – FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE…RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 8 PM EDT FRIDAY FOR LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, STRONG WINDS, AND HIGH ERC VALUES FOR ALL OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT Friday.
• AFFECTED AREA…ALL OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.
• WIND…WEST TO NORTHWEST 15 TO 20 MPH AND GUSTY.
• HUMIDITY…DROPPING TO BETWEEN 20 AND 30 PERCENT FOR SEVERAL HOURS.
• IMPACTS…ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL LIKELY SPREAD RAPIDLY. OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now….or will shortly. A combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
