BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – F.A.I.T.H. Basketball, run by Alex Richman, a former Satellite High School basketball player who went on to play in college as well as professionally, will be conducting a month-long basketball workshop, culminating in a College Showcase – specifically designed for aspiring players looking to get college scholarships.
The series of events will be held in conjunction with Melbourne Parks and Recreation and will take place at their Wickham Park facility, located at 2815 Leisure Way in Melbourne.
The workshops will take place three days a week, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., from June 12 – July 7, culminating in a College Showcase on July 8.
Coaches from NCAA Division II and III schools as well as NAIA colleges, independent universities and prep schools from Florida, Georgia and Alabama have been invited to attend.
“We’ve already had several coaches confirm their attendance with us,” said Richman. “They’re eager to scout new talent for their teams.”
Open only to unsigned players with Boys varsity level experience, as well as college-eligible post-graduates, the camp is designed to help hone players’ skills, evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and give them valuable visibility in front of college coaches and scouts, as well as prep coaches.
“I am very excited about the upcoming camp…especially the showcase,” says Richman.
“It’s my chance to give back to the community and help my fellow Brevard athletes out. I’ve already been where they want to go and I want to help them do what I did and reach their goals. Visibility is everything.
“There are a lot of good players out there. The difference between the ones who make it and the ones who don’t are simple. The ones who make it are always trying to improve their games, no matter how good or talented they are.
“They never give up. And they manage to get seen by someone who can help them. If no one ever sees you, it doesn’t matter how good you are.”
