BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – After Tuesday night’s rainout, the 10/11/12 baseball tournament got back underway at Rockledge’s McLarty Park with the visiting Indian River City Little League (IRCLL) meeting Merritt Island Little League (MILL).
MILL’s Tyler McClanahan hit a double while Rylan Diaz hit a grand slam and pitched a no-hitter as Merritt Island won 11-0 in 3 1/2 innings.
Up at Port St. John, the Junior baseball division had it’s first game with the visiting Indian River City Little League (IRCLL) pitted against Mims Little League (MLL).
Indian River City’s Brady Guthrie and Nick Mackkiewicz each had a RBI and Mason Urich had a double and a RBI. Jason Woodward pitched a no-hitter in IRCLL’s 12-0 win in 5 innings.
At Rockledge’s McKnight Family Sports Complex, the 10/11/12 and Junior softball divisions started competition.
In the 10/11/12 division, the visiting Mims Little League (MLL) squared off against Rockledge Little League (RLL). Joanie Mixon hit a triple in the 3rd inning for MLL, but they went into the 6th inning trailing RLL 3-4. In the top of the 6th, Mims scored 2 runs and Rockledge was not able to answer as MLL won 5-4 in 6 innings.
Also at McKnight, the visiting Port St. John Little League (PSJLL) Junior softball girls met Mims Little League (MLL) for their first game.
For PSJLL, Ms. Haynes went 5-6 with a triple and Kyla Williams had 11 strikeouts as she pitched the 15-6 victory in 7 innings.
