(FLORIDA FISH AND WILDLIFE) – Sea turtle hatchlings are crawling out of their nests and heading for the water now.

Want to help them?

Turn off lights at night if you’re staying on the beach.

Hatchlings look for open horizon over the water and can become confused and go the wrong way if they see artificial lights.

If you encounter hatchlings on the beach, watch from a distance, leave them undisturbed and refrain from shooting flash photos.

Report hatchlings that are dead, stranded, wandering in a road or parking lot or heading away from the water by calling our Wildlife Alert Hotline, 1-888-404-FWCC (3922), *FWC or #FWC on a cellphone, or text Tip@MyFWC.com.
