Tolls were suspended Sept. 5 as storm approached

The Florida Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that tolls will be reinstated Thursday at 12:01 a.m. on the state’s highways.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that tolls will be reinstated Thursday at 12:01 a.m. on the state’s highways.

Tolls were suspended by Gov. Rick Scott on September 5 as Hurricane Irma approached Florida.

By suspending all tolls, Floridians and visitors were more easily able to prepare for storm impacts, access important hurricane supplies, and quickly and safely evacuate.

To assist Monroe County residents with its recovery efforts, the Florida Department of Transportation said that the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike, south of the interchange with State Road 874, would remain toll-free.
