GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team wrapped up the Mid-Florida Conference championship with an 88-58 victory over Santa Fe College in Gainesville.

The Titans showcased a balanced scoring attack as four players had 15 or more points and 11 players scored in the game.

It is the sixth straight conference title for head coach Jeremy Shulman who had won the Southern Conference title five straight years before moving to the Mid-Florida Conference this season.

“I am so proud of our guys, this is an unbelievable conference, there are so many great teams in this conference and for our guys to find a way all season, against some adversity early, to find a way to win the conference – I am just so proud of our guys,” Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. “It is a special group of guys who deserve this championship and I am so glad we could do it.”

Sophomore Shaq Carter finished with a season-high 20 rebounds to go with 16 points while Ahmed Ali and Nathanael Jack each had 18 points. Teammate Michael Nuga finished with 15 points.

“We are in a new conference so we had to get the job done today and it feels great, it is really unexplainable,” Carter said. “Coming off the bench, I have to bring a lot of energy and effort and I have to do what it takes to get the job done. My legs feel really good and I just went to the glass and crashed as hard as I could all game.”

The 20 rebounds ties for the most the sophomore from Deerfield Beach has had in his Titans career.

The Titans (27-3, 10-2) will have a celebration as well as cut down the nets at Titan Field House Monday at 5:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to attend.

Eastern Florida State College will advance to the FCSAA State Tournament in Ocala beginning March 7.
