BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA– The Brevard County School Board is hosting a series of meetings to hear more from Brevard Public Schools staff and community members before deciding on a proposal to arm staff guardians who could stop school shooters.

The board tentatively will vote on the proposal May 8.

Last week, the board listened to over 50 plus BPS staff members and citizens on the proposal to arm staff guardians. The meeting lasted nearly five and a half hours as each speaker was allowed to three minutes to be heard.

Residents who wish to speak or have questions during the upcoming meetings will once again have up to three minutes to be heard.

In the case of large crowds, not everyone who signs up will get an opportunity to voice an opinion within the scheduled 90 minutes.

Another opportunity to speak will be provided at the school board meeting on the night of the tentative vote on May 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Educational Support Facility in Viera.
