BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Sheriff Wayne Ivey takes you inside the Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Care Center, located at 5100 West Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne, and introduced to a very special seven-day event.

“Thanks to the incredible cooperation and partnership with the community over the past few years, 23,000 cats and dogs have found forever homes helping Brevard County achieve ‘No Kill’ status,” said Sheriff Ivey.

Summer is one of the busiest times of the year for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Care Center, and with the shelter at near capacity, Sheriff Ivey is introducing a seven-day empty the kennels event called, “Operation Take Me Home With You.”

One of the major obstacles families have with taking home a new pet is the cost associated with the adoption and the initial medical expense of the examination and any spay or neutering that needs to be done.

However, for the next seven days, thanks to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Pet Posse, all startup and initial costs associated with adopting an animal will be waived.

The not for profit Pet Posse will also make sure every new adoption family also has a new crate, 30-days worth of food, a new collar and leash, as well as a new toy to help make the transition into a forever home as easy as possible.

As if that weren’t enough, your new pet will receive a microchip, all shots, and will be spayed or neutered at no cost to you. This means that thanks to the Sheriff’s Pet Possee, you can leave the  Animal Care Center with a new family pet at absolutely no cost to you.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Care Center, located on 5100 West Eau Gallie Boulevard, is open Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. through 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
