FIT Varsity-8 boat earns its first honor of the season

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech women’s rowing Varsity-8 boat has been named Sunshine State Conference boat of the week, announced by the conference office Monday, March 25.

The V8 boat which consisted of Graysen Pensch (bow), Liza Lutter, Irina Djurovic, Anna Kayser Gallego, Theresa Gadilhe, Svetlana Ristin, Federica Pala, Natalia Arasa Bonavila and Taylor Stoni (cowswain) shined in both of their races in the DII Double Duals.

First, the women took down the Barry Buccaneers by almost 12 seconds. The Panthers finished the 2000 meter course in 7:00.60 while the Bucs crossed in 7:12.50.

The V8 doubled their win total as they took down Embry-Riddle with an even larger gap than the previous race. Tech crossed the line in a time of 7:20.20 compared to ERAU’s 7:37.74.

The V8 and the rest of the team will be back in action Friday, April 5, when they head to Sarasota, Florida, for the FIRA Championship.
