Hormone disorders occur when the glands in the endocrine system are disrupted and cause an increase or decrease in hormone production. This condition is very dangerous because hormones have a very important role for the human body.

Including controlling metabolic processes, sexual development, and maintaining the balance of bodily functions.

If you experience hormonal disorders, you have the potential to experience a number of diseases.

The diseases that may be caused are very diverse, depending on hormones or what glands are affected.

For example, if the adrenal gland is disrupted, you can experience problems with blood pressure, metabolism, and kidney function.

DISEASES THAT MAY OCCUR

Here are some types of diseases that commonly occur due to the influence of hormonal disorders:

Cushing’s syndrome

This condition occurs because the pituitary gland produces excessive hormones. As a result, the adrenal gland becomes overactive. This condition can also occur in the consumption of high-dose corticosteroid drugs, especially in children.

Hypopituitarism

This condition occurs when the pituitary gland is unable to produce enough hormones. When the pituitary gland is unable to release enough hormones, the sufferer will experience a hormone deficiency. Hypopituitarism that occurs can trigger other conditions, such as cessation of menstruation in women.

Addison’s disease

Addison’s disease is caused by reduced hormones produced by the adrenal gland. This condition is characterized by the appearance of several symptoms, such as fatigue, dehydration, skin discoloration, and abdominal pain.

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)

This condition occurs when ovarian function is disrupted and causes female hormones to become unbalanced. PCOS is one of the factors that cause infertility in women.

Gigantism

This condition occurs when in childhood, the body produces excessive growth hormone. As a result, children who suffer from gigantism have height and weight above average.

Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid hormone levels in the body are very high. Disorders of this hormone will cause metabolic disorders. Hyperthyroidism is more common in women.

Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is a condition when the thyroid gland is disrupted and cannot produce enough hormones. Hypothyroidism causes the body’s metabolic processes to slow down, so that the energy produced by the body will decrease.

There are still various diseases and other conditions related to the occurrence of hormonal disorders in the body, so it needs a series of careful examinations to be able to find a disease that underlies the appearance of the hormone disorder.

Detect Hormone Disorders

To detect hormonal disorders the doctor will make a series of diagnostic efforts in the form of examining the history of personal complaints of patients and families, which can then be followed by a physical examination, and investigations such as blood tests or urine tests.

Scanning tests such as X-rays or CT scans may also be done to see if hormonal disorders occur due to special causes such as tumors.

If you are diagnosed with hormonal disorders and the endocrine system, your doctor may recommend that you consult a specialist in an endocrinologist. The types of treatment for hormonal disorders vary depending on the disease and the symptoms you experience.

In some cases, hormone replacement therapy such as Sermorelin-Therapy can be considered. Do not underestimate the hormone disorders that occur. If you experience symptoms of hormonal disorders, you should immediately consult a doctor for proper treatment.
