BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Experts at the National Hurricane Center are continuing to closely watch a disturbance in the Atlantic that has a 60-percent chance of becoming a tropical system in the next five days.
The disturbance is located a few hundred miles southwest Cabo Verde Islands and moving at 15 mph.
“Environmental conditions are forecast to become more conducive for development over the weekend and a tropical depression could form by early next week several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles,” said National Hurricane Center in a statement.
Currently, the system is producing a broad area of showers and thunderstorm activity that is associated with a tropical wave.
