BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mascot, “K-9 Junny,”  was named a 2019 Humanitarian Thursday night during the 2019 Central Florida Humanitarian Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne.

Hosted by Space Coast Daily, the Central Florida Humanitarian Awards recognizes local heroes for their time, passion and talent for helping others.

“Junny” who is named in memory of Junny Rios Martinez spends his day traveling throughout Brevard County with me representing our agency and bringing smiles to the faces of everyone he meets.

“Junny” is also trained to search for missing children and is also trained as a child comfort dog who helps calm children who have been victims of crime.

The 5-year-old and is a 121-pound lap dog that loves to be petted and spend time with kids at schools, special events and even parades.

He is truly an ambassador for our agency and is well aware that he is the “Sheriff’s Dog” as he is spoiled rotten by our team and citizens who all love him!
