Candidate for National High School PE Teacher of the Year
BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Patricia Edwards, PE teacher at Heritage High School, has been selected as the Southern District High School PE Teacher of the Year by the Society of Health And Physical Educators (SHAPE) America.
Edwards was named a state winner last year by SHAPE Florida, which earned her the opportunity to move forward in the awards process and the nomination for regional recognition.
She is now one of five candidates in consideration for the National High School PE Teacher of the Year distinction, to be named at the organization’s national conference this April.
SHAPE America is the national organization that serves as the voice for 200,000+ health and physical education professionals across the nation.
Since its founding in 1885, the organization has defined excellence in physical education, and its National Standards for K-12 Physical Education serve as the foundation for well-designed physical education programs across the country.
