Florida Tech Recognizes Senior Class Student-Athletes for Contributions to Panther Athletics

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – During the month of April, Florida Tech will recognize it’s senior class student-athletes for their contributions to their teams and Panther Athletics.

Vanessa Rubio | Boynton Beach, Fla.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Vanessa is a four-year member of the Panthers softball team. Rubio made an instant impact on the team as she started every game as a true freshman.

During her freshman campaign, she collected 31 hits, 17 runs, 18 RBI seven doubles and four home runs. This early experience served her well as she improved each and every year in the Crimson & Gray.

Vanessa’s best year at the plate came as a senior as she recorded a .311/.450/.492 slash line and behind the plate she had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Her favorite memory as a Panther is winning the program’s first conference championship. Vanessa was named Sunshine State Conference player of the week in March of 2019.

Ally Carver | Brownsburg, Ind.⁣

Ally is a four-year member of the Florida Tech Softball team. The outfielder has started 91 of her 97 appearances. Ally broke out her sophomore year as she was a key starter for the Crimson and Gray.

In her 53 contests, she recorded 31 hits, 14 runs, 15 RBI and 17 walks. Ally continued to play a big part in her next couple of seasons as she amassed 19 hits, 11 runs and 12 RBI over the next two seasons.

Her favorite memory at Florida Tech was celebrating this season’s many walk-off wins with her best friends. Off the field, she was named to the 2019 SSC honor roll. Ally will graduate in December with a degree in Chemical Engineering and after graduation plans to head into the workforce.⁣

Katie Maiello | Stanhope, N.J.

Katie is a four-year member of the Florida Tech Softball team. The outfielder has made appearances in 82 games and started 32. She made an instant impact as a freshman, as Katie played in 23 games with nine starts.

During those appearances, she had five hits, 10 runs, two RBI and two steals.

Katie continued to improve over the next few seasons and it culminated in her best season coming in her senior year.

Her favorite memory in a Panther Uniform was when Chey Chey homered in a game and brought the coach an extra amount of excitement.

Rachel Kraak | Warwick, Queensland, Australia⁣

Rachel is a four-year member of the softball team. She appeared in 125 games with 68 starts.

Her best season came as a sophomore when she recorded a .226 batting average with 14 hits, nine runs, six RBI, three doubles, one triple, one home run and three steals.

Rachel’s senior season was another strong showing as she had two hits, eight runs, three RBI and three steals in 23 games. Her favorite memory during her time at Florida Tech was attending Grad Bash with her friends. O

Tina Velazquez Rolon | Cidra, Puerto Rico

Tina was a two-year member of the softball team. During her first campaign with the Panthers in 2018-19, Tina had a .291/.367/.487 slash line. In the circle, she was equally impressive with a 2.27 ERA and a 10-3 record.

She also recorded four saves and had 78 strikeouts. This year, Tina had a banner year as she led the team in batting average (.403), on-base percentage (.549) and slugging percentage (.710).

She also had a great season in the circle as she had a team-best 10-4 record and two saves. She also had a team-best ERA at 2.30 and in strikeouts with 68.

Jaden Kline | Kissimmee, Fla.⁣

Jaden was a two-year member of the softball team. She started all but one of her 74 appearances. She made an instant impact on the team as she recorded 45 hits, 13 runs, 29 RBI, nine doubles, one triple and 17 walks for a .324/.400/.403 slash line.

Kline followed her 2019 campaign with 19 hits, 10 runs, 11 RBI, four doubles, one home run and 17 walks for a .247/.379/.338 slash line. Her favorite memory as a Panther is playing alongside all of her teammates during her time in the Crimson & Gray.

Jordan Lawlis | Okeechobee, Fla. ⁣

Jordan is a two-year member of the softball team. She took the circle 38 times for Florida Tech with 21 of the appearances being starts.

Jordan has a great first year in the Crimson and Gray as she recorded a team-best 1.60 ERA in 65.2 innings of work.

This dominance powered her to a 7-2 record with two saves and three complete games. Her senior season built on that success as she led the team in innings pitched with 79.2.

Katrina Hand | Wall, N.J.⁣

Katrina is a two-year member of the softball and volleyball team. The dual-sport athlete was an outfielder in softball and outside hitter in volleyball.

In her first season at Florida Tech, she appeared in 31 softball games with two starts and appeared in four volleyball matches. In softball, she tallied three hits, 10 runs and had one RBI while in volleyball she recorded two kills and one dig.

Katrina had breakout seasons as a senior that saw make 24 appearances in both softball and volleyball. She was a defensive force for the softball team as she recorded a .929 fielding percentage and collected 22 kills, 17 digs and three blocks on the volleyball court.
