How Lifestyle Influencer Ami Desai Carved Out a Niche Audience as a Unique Content Creator

Lifestyle influencer Ami Desai is doing just that by embracing her South Asian heritage and inspiring others to believe that women of all ages and backgrounds are beautiful.
Ami Rawal Desai is a first-generation American born to Indian parents. Originally from Houston, Texas, Desai has had a flourishing career in entertainment that includes working for E!, OWN, and KTLA5 News. While working in TV, Desai noticed that South Asian brides weren’t represented in the makeup industry, and that was when she turned her attention towards lifestyle and beauty, fueling her power as an influencer.
“South Asian women deserve more representation,” explains Desai. “My intent with expanding into beauty was to serve a group of women who were being overlooked in the beauty industry.”
Desai understands what it’s like to stand out because of her ethnicity, and she worked hard to create an inclusive community where women could feel understood.
“Growing up, I didn’t find many people who looked like me,” states Ami.
“I was often perceived as being Latina or something completely different from who I am, and that was really hard growing up. There was no one in mainstream media I could look up to.” Tired of living the stereotype, Desai set out to reach women with helpful content that embraces life and beauty over the age of 35.
What Desai created is a platform full of motivation and inspiration for women looking to look good, feel good, and just get out there and live their best lives.
While she talks a lot about makeup, which is her passion, she also isn’t afraid to give followers a glimpse of her life as a working mom and influencer. Desai is showing women around the world that life is beautiful, and you can indeed have it all.
“I’ve always had a passion for storytelling, whether it was with entertainment news or featuring real-life stories from relatable people,” she explains. “We all have common ground we can share and so much to celebrate together.”
Desai’s social platforms are full of inspiration and motivation for the modern woman. By embracing who she is as a strong South Asian woman Desai isn’t afraid to deliver unique content for an audience no longer willing to be looked over by the mainstream media.
She explains, “We are so fortunate to live in a time of so much change and acceptance, which is what I know I will always continue to promote.” As the landscape gets crowded, Desai continues to rise above as an influencer known for her natural beauty, confidence, and belief that beauty is both forever and universal.
