A haven for veterans, Indian River Colony Club is known for its par-72 private golf course and patriotic culture. The gated community of nearly 800 single-family homes maintains a slate of resort-style amenities for active adults aged 55 and over.

During the half-million-dollar renovation process, the community’s three Har-Tru tennis courts were replaced entirely, and an underground HydroCourt self-regulating irrigation system was installed to water the courts from below. A new tennis windscreen with the updated community logo protects the courts.

The existing bocce courts were resurfaced using artificial turf, while the shuffleboard courts were upgraded with interlocking VersaCourt tiles. All the complex courts are now considered professional-level playing surfaces.

A 1,600 square foot artificial turf area for competition cornhole play was added to the court complex. Additionally, 5,000 square feet of pavers were installed in the covered recreation area, along with decorative fencing and new landscaping.

John Robinson, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Indian River Colony Club, is proud of the community he has managed since 2005. The 22-year Navy veteran has much in common with the members of IRCC.

“Indian River Colony Club has been a model of community excellence in Viera for almost 40 years,” said Robinson.” The amenities here are second to none, and anyone who has driven through IRCC knows the entire neighborhood is meticulously maintained. It’s what we mean by ‘service to those who served.'”

Viera’s first neighborhood, Indian River Colony Club, is known as “The Place Patriots Call Home.” Comprised largely of military veterans, the par-72 private golf course community of single-family homes has a patriotic culture and resort-style amenities for active adults aged 55 and over. About Indian River Colony Club: Viera’s first neighborhood, Indian River Colony Club, was originally conceived as a retirement destination for military retirees. IRCC began to take shape in 1986, with the vision to create a private resort-like environment for members. Still predominantly a haven for veterans, IRCC maintains a culture centered on service to others.
