BREVARD COUNTY, TITUSVILLE • FLORIDA – Titusville police reported officers have arrested a 16-year-old and charged him with Armed Carjacking, Robbery with a Firearm, Aggravated Fleeing and Alluding and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License.

According to Titusville police spokesperson Amy Matthews, officers observed the suspect in a stolen car in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Harrison Street at 4 p.m. on Monday.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that (the suspect) stole the victim’s 2017 Black Dodge Journey earlier in the day at gunpoint after they had offered him, and an unknown male accomplice, a ride,” said Matthews in a release.

“A traffic stop was attempted by Titusville police officers, the suspect did not comply and fled at a high rate of speed.”

Matthews said that within seconds, the suspect crashed at the intersection of South Park Avenue and South Street into a teal 2003 Nissan Altima that was southbound on South Park Avenue.

The suspect then crashed into a traffic signal pole on the southeast side of South Street at the intersection.

“The two traffic crash victims in the Nissan Altima sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital,” said Matthews.

“The juvenile passenger in the stolen vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.”

The 16-year-old suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before he was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

This incident remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department and further details will be released upon its conclusion.
