Recreational, commercial traps may remain in the water during this period

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has canceled the blue crab trap closures previously scheduled for Aug. 10-19 and 20-29, for all waters from Nassau through Palm Beach counties.

Recreational and commercial blue crab traps may remain in the water during this period.

New trap requirements

Recreational fishers age 16 and older (including those normally exempt from needing a license) are required to complete an online, no-cost recreational blue and stone crab trap registration before using blue or stone crab traps.

To register, visit GoOutdoorsFlorida.com and add the Recreational Blue Crab Trap Registration or the Recreational Stone Crab Trap Registration to your account.
