Sea Park Elementary School’s Samantha McGill Named Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – Samantha McGill, Sea Park Elementary School’s Media Specialist, has been awarded the 2019-2020 Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year Award for her leadership in the Sea Park Elementary School’s Take-a-Vet-to-School Program.

Under McGill’s direction, Sea Park Elementary has had the pleasure of hosting hundreds of veterans on a special day each year for the past 12 years.

This enormous effort allows Sea Park Elementary School students to learn firsthand about the service and sacrifice veterans have given to keep our country safe.

McGill designed the Take-a-Vet-to-School Day with dedication assemblies performed by the students and classroom interaction where the student’s learn about the veteran’s experiences while serving in the five military services.

The annual experience has enriched both students and veterans alike as evidence by the increasing numbers of program participants each year.
