UPDATE: 65-Year-Old Titusville Woman Killed in Fatal Crash on State Road 520 in Merritt Island

Florida Highway Patrol and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal incident on State Road 520 Tuesday night in Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal crash on State Road 520 Tuesday night in Merritt Island that claimed the life of a 65-year-old Titusville woman.

The crash happened around 11 p.m.

State troopers say the investigation has revealed that the Titusville woman was walking on the edge of the roadway when a vehicle, driven by a 43-year-old Cocoa woman struck and killed her at the scene.

The incident temporarily shut down westbound SR-520 in Merritt Island near N. Tropical Trail.

The full identity of the victim will not be released to the public after a new FHP policy has gone into effect that doesn’t release the full identities of crash victims.
