Brevard Public Schools Honor Chris Reed, Terry Kulaga With Principal, Assistant Principal of the Year Recognition

Honorees will now represent Brevard Public Schools at the state level
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools has announced Endeavour Elementary School Chris Reed has been selected as Principal of the Year and Terry Kulaga of Rockledge High school has been honored as Assistant Principal of the Year.
Each year Brevard Public Schools selects one assistant principal and principal to represent Brevard Public Schools at the state level Assistant Principal of the Year and Principal of the Year Awards competition.
The Principal of the Year nominees, in addition to Reed, includes Marina Middleton of Johnson Middle School, Rachel Roberts of Columbia Elementary School and Sherry Tomlinson of Kennedy MiddleSchool.
REED HAS CREATED A SENSE OF URGENCY
Reed began his journey serving the Endeavour community in October of 2018. Upon his arrival, Endeavour Elementary was identified by the state as a school under turnaround status.
Reed created a sense of urgency in meeting the needs of all students and perfected the delicate balance of increasing expectations for teaching and learning while creating a supportive environment for students, teachers, staff and parents.
With the systems put into place to support academic and behavioral gains, Endeavour earned the highest school grade in over 10 years increasing to a school grade of C. His transformational leadership efforts significantly impacted the entire community.
“Mr. Reed continues to grow a culture of high performance for all students and staff evidenced by consistent messaging shared with all stakeholders of ‘Name it, See it, Do it, Together…we will!’ and ‘To Proficiency and Beyond!'” said BPS officials.
“The trajectory of students attending Endeavour Elementary continues to be positively impacted by the leadership of Mr. Reed.”
KULAGA PASSIONATE ABOUT SCHOOL, COMMUNITY AND STUDENTS
Assistant Principal of the Year nominees, in addition to Kulaga, includes Lucy Haddock of Freedom 7 Elementary School, Adrea McDonough of Sherwood Elementary School and Jennifer Williams of McNair Magnet Middle School).
Kulaga has been a Rockledge Raider since 1995, first hired as a Social Studies teacher and then becoming the Dean of Students and now Curriculum AP for the last 21 years. She has served as a mentor to countless new assistant principals.
She is passionate about her school, community, and most importantly the success of every Rockledge student.
Kulaga played an integral part in bringing the Cambridge Program to Brevard County. Rockledge High School is one of 50 International Fellowship Centers in the world and now a Cambridge Demonstration School.
“She can assemble a crew of volunteers for anything needed at the school just through the love and respect she has garnered from her current and former students as well as the community,” said BPS officials.
“She is regularly greeted around town with a boisterous “Raider Pride,” undoubtedly from a former Raider that she has made an impact in their life. We don’t have many administrators in our district who have dedicated their careers to the same school and community for this amount of time.
“Ms. Kulaga is the epitome of The Rock, and what it means to Bleed Raider Blue.”
