Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Announces Residency Requirement for COVID-19 Vaccinations

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that all COVID-19 vaccines dispensed in Florida should be available specifically for eligible Florida residents.

In Brevard County, appointments are required for vaccination, and those currently eligible for the vaccine are Florida residents age 65 and older, and healthcare workers with direct patient contact

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that all COVID-19 vaccines dispensed in Florida should be available specifically for eligible Florida residents.

In Brevard County, appointments are required for vaccination, and those currently eligible for the vaccine are Florida residents age 65 and older, and healthcare workers with direct patient contact.

Effective immediately individuals receiving a COVID-19 vaccine must bring:

■ All clients must provide identification

■ Healthcare workers must provide proof of employment in addition to ID (examples: work ID badge, paystub, etc.)

■ Individuals with an out-of-state ID should also provide proof of residency or semi-permanent residency (examples: utility bill, property tax receipt, lease agreement for Florida property, etc.)

■ Any out-of-state client who has received vaccine at the Florida Department of Health-Brevard in Viera site prior to January 19, 2021, will have their second dose appointment honored.

Please do not visit a vaccine site without an appointment.
