BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County School Board is scheduled to convene for its Regular Board Meeting and Public Hearing on February 11, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Educational Services Facility in Viera.
The meeting will commence with standard procedures, including a call to order, roll call, moment of silence, invocation, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Resolutions and Proclamations
The Board will recognize significant observances by adopting resolutions for Black History Month and Heart Health Month.
Administrative Staff Recommendations
Recommendations concerning administrative staff appointments and changes will be presented for the Board’s consideration.
Presentations
The Independent Citizens Committee for Millage Oversight will deliver its annual report, providing insights into the utilization of millage funds over the past fiscal year.
Public Comment
Community members will have the opportunity to address the Board on various topics during the public comment segment.
Consent Agenda
– The Board will review and potentially approve several items under the consent agenda, including:
– Meeting Minutes: Approval of minutes from previous sessions held in January 2025.
– Personnel Recommendations: Consideration of instructional and support staff appointments, resignations, and terminations.
– Elementary Specialist Position: Introduction of a new job description aimed at supporting Title I elementary schools in implementing School-wide Plans.
– Field Trip Approval: Sanctioning a trip for the FIRST Robotics Competition Team 801 Horsepower to Knoxville, Tennessee, with potential advancement to Houston, Texas.
– Head Start Program: Submission of the December 2024 Head Start monthly report and the 2025 Selection Criteria for Board approval.
– Project Management: Various construction and facility renewal projects, including those at Astronaut High School, Cocoa High School, and Palm Bay Magnet High School, will be presented for approval or closeout.
Public Hearing
A public hearing will be conducted to discuss the adoption of new instructional materials for K-12 Science and High School Personal Finance courses. The proposed materials have undergone thorough evaluation and community input, with implementation planned for the 2025-2026 school year.
Action Items
The Board will deliberate on procurement solicitations and department-initiated agreements, encompassing areas such as outside legal counsel, charter bus renewals, lawn equipment services, and software acquisitions.
