A vessel sink is something that adds an aesthetic look to your bathroom. To keep pace with the modern world, a vessel sink on top of your bathroom vanity is a necessary thing. Therefore, the installation of the vessel sink should be done correctly.

Otherwise, your sink faucet might not work properly if it is not done properly. But you should not worry anymore because you have landed on the right place on earth. In this article, I am going to take you through each step you need to know to place the vessel sink faucet.

What is a vessel sink?

Before starting, I think it is beneficial for us to know what a vessel sink is. Unlike a traditional sink, it is a basin that you need to sit on top of the bathroom vanity. It is something exclusive and high-end product that increases your bathroom’s appearance.

Installing a vessel sink requires a lot of planning so that you can come up with the best practices. It comes with a few challenges that need to be solved wisely. Your bathroom vanity should not have a submerged area for the traditional vessel.

Require proper plan

Before you start installing the vessel or sink you have to position the vanity perfectly. Also, you don’t need to mount the wall or floor first. It would be wise to read completely and carefully the instructions that come with the product. You will understand how to secure the sinks on the top of the vanity.

When you are all set to secure the vanity in your bathroom, you are almost ready to keep the sink on the vanity. Some bathroom vanities come with pre-drilled faucet holes that need to connect with the sink. On the other hand, you might have a vanity that requires making holes.

If so, you have to do it carefully and slowly. Otherwise, it might break down if you create more pressure to drill for the holes you need to connect with the sink. In this case, you should draw everything you are going to drill before making holes. You need precautions before you start drilling because it might break or make your system.

Now cut them

As you have already drawn everything out, it is time to use your drill to make these holes you need. There might be more marks on the vanity you have just drawn. In this case, you should go for the final marks to follow. Also, you can remove other marks you have drawn because these marks may confuse you.

While cutting the vanity top, you should use a jigsaw which provides more control in motion. In my case, I have used a jigsaw because it offers me more precise holes. But I did not use a jigsaw for making tiny holes for screws. Instead of using a jigsaw, I have a drill that speeds up the entire process.

When you have completed cutting holes, bring your sink or vessel and place it on the top of the vanity. Check twice whether everything is lined up. Otherwise, you have to do the same thing over and over again which you never want to do.

Placing the sink

So, you have verified everything is lined up and secured your sink on the vanity. Now it’s time to install the faucet and sink to your vanity so that everything works properly. To do so, you should not think complex because it is not rocket science.

While making the purchase of your bathroom vanity, everything including instructions and mounting rings should come with it. Besides, you have to buy these things separately which is not necessary. However, you now have to attach the mounting ring, caulk, and position well and then start tightening them for a firm installation.

You may need to use a cushion between the sink and your vanity if you have a glass vessel sink. In this situation, using a silicon cushion is a wise take. If not, you don’t have to worry about the step. Now, your sink is properly sat on top of the vanity, right?

Water supply lines

This is the last but not least step of installing a vessel sink on top of the bathroom vanity. Attaching your water supply lines may not take much time. But you should take time to attach them carefully and properly so that there is no leakage. To ensure everything is alright, you should double-check the connection of the water supply lines. Allow some time so that everything dries well.

After testing the lines, if you see any problems, you should check where the problems are. After finding out the issues, fix them without taking further time. While using glue, make sure you have allowed much time to dry them. In this way, you can successfully install your vessel sink faucet with the bathroom vanity.

How high does your bathroom vanity need to be?

When you place your sink on the top of your bathroom vanity, its height will increase, right? If you have a bathroom vanity that has already a submerged area to place the sink, it might not be too high. Otherwise, you have to think twice about the height of the vanity.

Therefore, you have to consider the height of the bathroom vanity while purchasing it, especially if you want to place a vessel sink on top of the vanity. So, it would be wise to bring a vanity that is not too high. If you have kids, it will be really difficult for them to use the vessel due to the height.

Final Thought

Installing a vessel sink faucet to your bathroom vanity should not be difficult. Also, you don’t require having the technical knowledge to accomplish the process. All you need to do is to follow all the instructions that come with the vanity and the instructions I have shared here. Therefore, you are sure to install your vessel sink properly to change the look from traditional to modern.
