BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech kicked off its season with an impressive effort on Sunday at the Head of the Charles Regatta.

Competing in the men’s Championship Fours against a slew of strong Division I opponents, Tech finished sixth overall in the competition with a time of 16:21.093.

USTC-Oakland won the event at 15:34.079 but the Panthers were able to hold off the likes of Syracuse, Brown, Oregon State and Wisconsin to finish in the top half of the field.

“Very excited for how well the crew performed,” said head coach Jim Granger. “They raced with purpose and were aggressive the whole distance.”

“I am very pleased with the crew’s performance today,” said assistant coach Mark Roberts. “This builds momentum we can carry into the Spring.”

Florida Tech is back in action on Nov. 13 at the Head of the South Regatta on the Savannah River in Augusta, Ga.
