Eastern Florida State Women’s Soccer Team Wins District Title, Advances to NJCAA Division I National Tourney

ARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team won the South Atlantic District Championship Saturday night at Orlando Health Stadium.

The second-ranked Titans scored 10 times to defeat Spartanburg Methodist 10-0 and advance to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament for the 10th straight season. The 10 goals were the most scored by a women’s soccer team since Sept. 25, 2017.

Freshman Putri Sazali scored three times in a nine-minute span in the first half to pace the offensive explosion. It was Sazali’s first goal of the season.

Kurumi Arakawa opened the scoring six and a half minutes into the match, hitting a nice shot to make it 1-0. Five minutes later Laura Cetina scored on a nice cross from Courtney Jade Butlion to make it 2-0.

Freshmen Kailey Dunne, Sazali, Logan Humbert, Juliet Uni, and Jordan Smith all scored their first goals of the season in the match.

The Titans won the South Atlantic District title for the second straight year and have won the district championship nine straight seasons.

Eastern Florida State College, which has made it to the national tournament semifinals the past four years, will play in the national tournament Nov. 15-20 at Daytona State College.
