BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s and women’s basketball have paused all-team-related activities in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.

As a result, the women’s Sunshine State Conference games against Embry-Riddle on Thursday, Dec. 30 and Eckerd on Sunday, Jan. 2 will be canceled and not be rescheduled.

The men’s contest against Embry-Riddle will also be canceled and not rescheduled. Florida Tech Sports Medicine and the athletic department will continue to monitor and evaluate the status of upcoming games.

Per SSC policy, “If a team cannot play a scheduled conference game due to COVID‐19 reasons, that game will not be rescheduled and the team will be given a forfeit loss. That loss will affect their record in the SSC conference standings and also affect tournament seeding and awarding of the SSC AQ, if applicable.”

“Their opponent will be given a forfeit win. The NCAA has a long‐standing policy of not recognizing such forfeitures and deeming canceled games ‘no contests.’ An SSC forfeiture will have no effect on selection for NCAA championships, player statistics or coaching records.”
