BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – This year’s annual free Florida-Friendly Landscaping Seminar will be held at the Eau Gallie High School Auditorium on February 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with check-in starting at 8:15 a.m.

Besides numerous vendors, there will be four engaging presentations:

 9 – 9:45 a.m.: “Creating Habitat for Winged Wildlife” by Skip Healy, Change of Greenery

 9:45 -10:30 a.m.: “10 Things Being done to Help the Lagoon That You Probably Haven’t Heard About” by Kathy Hill, Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program

 10:45 – 11:30 a.m.: “Grow Your Own Delicious Food!” by Sally Scalera, UF/IFAS Extension, Brevard County

 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: “Florida-Friendly Landscaping in HOAs and Everywhere!” by Claire Lewis, University of Florida – Florida Friendly Landscaping Program

After the speakers conclude, door prizes will be given out to winning ticket holders. All participants who complete the surveys will receive goodie bags that include hose nozzles, gardening gloves, and native plant seeds.

Registration is not mandatory but is encouraged.

This free seminar also includes muffins and donuts from Love Bugs Bakery, coffee, and other goodies. Attendees should bring their own reusable water bottles. To fill them, water in large jugs will be provided.

The event is planned and organized by the City of Melbourne, City of Palm Bay, City of Satellite Beach, Brevard County Natural Resources Management, Brevard County Utilities Service, the University of Florida/IFAS Brevard Extension and the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program/Indian River Lagoon Council.
