The Florida Federation of Young Republicans Association of Club Presidents passed a resolution unanimously on Jan. 30 supporting Florida HB103 and constitutional carry in the State of Florida.

The Florida Federation of Young Republicans Association of Club Presidents comprises 16 clubs representing more than 700 Young Republicans across the State of Florida.

The mission of the Young Republicans is to recruit, train, and elect the next generation of leaders. Additionally, the organization seeks to increase the engagement of Young Republicans at every level and ensure conservative government continues to prosper across the State.

RESTORES RIGHTS OF THE CITIZENS

Constitutional carry restores the rights of citizens to protect themselves by eliminating concealed carry permit requirements for lawful owners of firearms. Criminals do not follow the law, so the only people permitting requirements apply to are legal gun owners protecting themselves against criminals.

HB 103 restores the rights of gun owners to carry firearms concealed or openly without a permit requirement. By passing HB 103, we remove the punishment of law-abiding citizens through greater deterrence of those who would choose to harm our communities.

“We know that criminals won’t follow the procedures to receive a concealed carry permit; why should law-abiding citizens be left defenseless,” said Sarah Huggett, Chairman of the Association of Club Presidents.

“I am proud of Anthony Sabatini for bringing this legislation and representing the views of Young Republicans across the state.”

Huggett represents the Nature Coast Young Republicans, including Levy, Citrus and Hernando counties.

Young Republicans Vice-Chair Josiah Gattle brought the resolution from Space Coast Young Republicans.

“Constitutional carry is just one of the issues that Young Republicans are calling for reform on across this state,” said Gattle.

“It’s time for Young Republicans to step up and get involved in the legislative process through advocacy from our state-level down to our city council level.”

The Florida Federation of Young Republicans Association of Club Presidents will be partnering with Tampa Bay Young Republicans, led by Jake Hoffman and Capital Young Republicans led by Stefan Babin, to host a legislative day on Feb. 22 to advocate for this and other issues in the Florida Capital.

“It should be a great opportunity to speak directly with our lawmakers and advocate on issues affecting young conservatives in Florida,” said Jake Hoffman, President of Tampa Bay Young Republicans and candidate for the Florida House.

“People shouldn’t have to necessarily run for office like I am to create change in the state.”
