ABOVE VIDEO: Titusville Police are continuing their shooting investigation after a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed near 1100 North Washington Avenue on Wednesday.
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police are continuing their shooting investigation after a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed near 1100 North Washington Avenue on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old has been identified as Mercutio Nicholias Burford.
Police say the shooting incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, when officers responded to a report of an injured person near a bike trail in the area.
When police officers arrived, they located the Burford with an apparent gunshot wound laying near the bike trail just across the US-1 from Parrish Medical Center.
The preliminary investigation has revealed the unknown suspect shot Burford and fled south on foot from the crime scene and is still at large.
Burford was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but was later pronounced dead.
