The event recognized Brevard Public Schools teachers and administrators who are making a difference in the schools and the community.
The Brevard Schools Foundation and Brevard Public Schools honored and celebrated outstanding educators and employees at the 2022 ABC Awards on Feb. 3. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard Schools Foundation and Brevard Public Schools honored and celebrated outstanding educators and employees at the 2022 ABC Awards on Feb. 3 at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place.
■ Alexandria Wicker, seventh grade science and science research teacher at Andrew Jackson Middle School, was awarded the Teacher of the Year Award.
After having worked in state parks, she decided to share her love of science with students and brought that passion to the classroom. She has been teaching for three years and says she is grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of her students.
■ Jennifer Imperato, School Resource Officer at Ocean Breeze Elementary School, was awarded the Employee of the Year Award.
A police officer for the city of Indian Harbour Beach, she says that her role as an SRO has been the most rewarding of her career, and the students at Ocean Breeze inspire her each and every day. She strives to be a positive role model for her students while always keeping them safe.

Along with Imperato, the Brevard Public Schools 2021-2022 Employee of the Year finalist included Lannie Bravo, McNair Manet Middle School; Devin Smith, Freedom 7 Elementary School; Jessica Diana Waugh, Westside Elementary School; Pete Baxley, Central Middle School; and Christian Wright, Hoover Middle School.
Along with Wicker, the Brevard Public Schools 2021-2022 Teacher of Year finalist included Dr. Anita Jordan, Oak Park Elementary School; Ruby Riviera, Discovery Elementary School; Meghan Robert, Suntree Elementary School; Sara Murano, Palm Bay Magnet High School; and Lisa Rickett, Delaura Middle School.
“These individuals, and all our school-awarded Teachers and Employees of the Year, represent the heart and soul of Brevard,” said BPS officials.
