Hawks finish their season 18-2-1 and are the FHSAA Class 6A State Runner-Ups

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – No. 1 Viera Hawks boys soccer team were defeated by the No. 2 Doral Academy Firebirds 3-2 in the FHSAA Class 6A State Finals at Spec Martin Stadium on Saturday.
The No. 1 Hawks made their first FHSAA State Championship appearance in program history after edging Mitchell 2-1 in the state semi-finals.
The Firebirds scored the first two goals 25 minutes into the match. Viera then tied the game up after a penalty kick, but after that Doral Academy had possession of the majority of the game and won the 6A State Championship 3-2.
The Hawks finish their season 18-2-1 and are the FHSAA Class 6A State Runner-Ups for the first time in program history.
How They Got Here:
■ In round one of the playoffs, the Hawks cruised to a 3-o win over Harmony.
■ Next, Viera continued their playoff run and quest for gold as the Hawks defended home field once again defeating Lake Howell 2-0.
■ Finally, the Hawks went on to defeat Mitchell High School 2-1 in the State Semifinal to clinch a State Championship berth for the first time in program history.
