Bryson L. Jones, 25, Arrested After Discharging 30 Rounds, Wounding One Man During Shooting in Cocoa Village Parking Lot

Bryson L. Jones, 24, is in jail facing attempted murder and other felony crimes following a shooting that occurred in the downtown area of Cocoa Village in the early hours of Saturday. “The investigation revealed there was a large physical fight that began inside Marino’s restaurant/bar involving several people,” said a Cocoa police spokesperson. “Witnesses reported seeing a male, later identified as Bryson L. Jones, shooting approximately 30 rounds into the parking lot.”

COCOA POLICE: Several rounds struck a 24-year-old male victim who was taken to the hospital, but is expected to recover.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA VILLAGE, FLORIDA – A 24-year-old man is in jail facing attempted murder and other felony crimes following a shooting that occurred in the downtown area of Cocoa Village in the early hours of Saturday.

According to Cocoa police,  at approximately 1:59 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the area of 17 Oleander Street after reports of a shooting.

“The investigation revealed there was a large physical fight that began inside Marino’s restaurant/bar involving several people,” said a Cocoa police spokesperson.

“Witnesses reported seeing a male, later identified as Bryson L. Jones of Jennings, Louisiana, shooting approximately 30 rounds into the parking lot.”

The Cocoa police spokesperson said several rounds struck a 24-year-old male victim who was taken to the hospital, but is expected to recover.

Jones fled the scene in a vehicle, ignoring officers’ commands to stop.

Jones was later located in the City of Rockledge, and after a brief foot pursuit with Rockledge officers, was taken into custody without further incident.

Jone was taken to the Brevard County jail without bond and is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, attempted felony murder, shoot/throw deadly missile into dwellings, public/private business, and/or vehicles, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, discharging firearm in public, and resisting an officer.

Cocoa police officials said the investigation is ongoing.
