Dr. S. Kamal Fetouh outlined several points including a common discomfort mainly found in athletes or patients who sit for prolonged periods of time.
Dysfunction in the sacroiliac joint, also called the SI joint, can sometimes cause lower back and/or leg pain.
Leg pain from sacroiliac joint dysfunction can be particularly difficult to differentiate from radiating leg pain caused by a lumbar disc herniation (sciatica) as they can feel quite similar.
Dr. S. Kamal Fetouh along with Florida Pain Institute’s Caroline Harrell demonstrate stretches to help the SI joint and other lower back areas.

If you are one of the millions who suffer from pain, you should be aware that there are more treatment options available now than ever before. To make an informed decision about your treatment, you should first gain an understanding of your specific condition.
People develop pain for many reasons. Acute pain can be from a recent injury, surgery, or medical illness. This pain can typically be managed immediately and will more than likely improve in a short period of time.
In some instances, your primary care physician may refer you to a pain management physician to manage your pain while you are healing.
If you have persistent pain, pain that gets worse over time, or pain that persists after the healing process should be over, you may have what is classified as chronic pain. Again, your primary care physician may refer you to a pain management physician.
Cancer pain related to surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or the tumor itself can also be managed by a pain management physician in conjunction with the referring oncologist.
Our physicians and staff are committed to providing a high standard of care. Your initial visit with our physicians will include a comprehensive evaluation, review of your medical records, and discussion of an individualized diagnostic and therapeutic treatment plan.
Should one of your physicians recommend a procedure, we will assist in obtaining an insurance authorization if necessary.
