Kalambaka is a popular place for tourists to come and visit. While it is a smaller city, it has become popular for its location and the fact that it is located beneath the pinnacles of Meteora. Here you can find amazing restaurants, old churches, and the main attraction which is the monasteries which are perched atop the mountains or cliffs. For those who enjoy hiking or walking, there is also plenty of that to do here in Kalambaka.
Piraeus
If you find yourself in the capital city of Greece, Athens, then you will be just a mere 10 kilometers away from the old capital port for Greece, Piraeus. While they may be so close together it could seem like it is all part of the same city, they are actually considered to be separate entities in themselves.
While it may not be the most beautiful place in the world, it is worth visiting as it is the largest port in all of the Mediterranean. It is the gateway to all of the Greek islands and if you feel like an adventure, this should be your first stop.
Heraklion
Heraklion is the capital city of the largest of the Greek islands, Crete. There is no surprise why it is a must-see place then. While it may seem like a bit of a chaotic place, the hustle and bustle of life in Heraklion will grow on you and it can be incredibly enjoyable.
