When in Greece there are plenty of places to visit and you will never get bored, but if you don’t know where to start first, here is a great city to go to. Ioannina is located on the shore of Lake Pamvotis and is an absolutely stunning place to visit, especially in the summer months.

Here you will find all sorts of old city wonders from olden architecture which is stunning, to fortresses and ancient walls. There is a large student population in this here too. So, for those who are traveling with their friend or looking for a good time, this is the place to be.

Corfu Town

Known to be probably one of the most beautiful cities in all of Greece, we have Corfu Town. This town is located on the island of Corfu and is the capital of this island too. In the center of this town, you will find some of the most gorgeous and historic landmarks and buildings.

Here in Corfu Town, there is plenty to do from admiring the lovely Venetian architecture to visiting ancient churches and even walking through the streets of the amazing town. This town is also the main port of entry for boats which makes it easy to come here for a day trip and to find some of the best restaurants around.

Kalambaka is a popular place for tourists to come and visit. While it is a smaller city, it has become popular for its location and the fact that it is located beneath the pinnacles of Meteora. The town itself is relatively quiet and a great place to spend the day if you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle.

Here you can find amazing restaurants, old churches, and the main attraction which is the monasteries which are perched atop the mountains or cliffs. For those who enjoy hiking or walking, there is also plenty of that to do here in Kalambaka.

If you find yourself in the capital city of Greece, Athens, then you will be just a mere 10 kilometers away from the old capital port for Greece, Piraeus. While they may be so close together it could seem like it is all part of the same city, they are actually considered to be separate entities in themselves.

While it may not be the most beautiful place in the world, it is worth visiting as it is the largest port in all of the Mediterranean. It is the gateway to all of the Greek islands and if you feel like an adventure, this should be your first stop.

Heraklion is the capital city of the largest of the Greek islands, Crete. There is no surprise why it is a must-see place then. While it may seem like a bit of a chaotic place, the hustle and bustle of life in Heraklion will grow on you and it can be incredibly enjoyable.

From visiting palaces, and museums, to eating at incredible restaurants, to learning about local culture, there is no shortage of things to do while in this incredible town. The modern parts of the town offer great food and an amazing shopping experience, while the older parts of the town show off the beauty of ancient architecture that has been well preserved.
