Coast Guard Suspends Search for Man Who Jumped Off Mardi Gras Cruise Ship About 60 Miles From Port Canaveral

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Coast Guard officials announced that they have suspended the search for a man who jumped off the Mardi Gras cruise ship about 60 miles from Port Canaveral on Saturday.
Coast Guard announced the passenger who jumped was 43-year-old Tang Tran.
Coast Guard says a total of 58 hours were spent by various agencies to find the man, to no avail.
Officials searched about 2,078 square miles prior to suspending the search.
“This evening I made the difficult decision to suspend the search for Mr. Tran,” said Capt. Mark Vlaun of the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville.
“We are grateful to Carnival for the swift response and support to the family. Our deepest condolences go out to Mr. Tran’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Vlaun said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the guest and his family,” the cruise line said.
