BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – A Tampa man has been arrested for a vacation rental scam in Cocoa Beach, according to Cocoa Beach Police.
George Henry, 62, of Tampa, was recently taken into custody for allegedly scamming an individual into paying for a fraudulently advertised vacation rental in Cocoa Beach back in July of 2021.
The victim booked what was believed to be a vacation rental in Cocoa Beach through a popular online real estate marketplace and sent thousands of dollars to Henry, only to learn upon arrival that the property was not for rent.
Cocoa Beach Police Detective Ezequiel Rodriguez confirmed the transaction in Henry’s bank account, then traveled to Tampa to further investigate, and developed the probable cause necessary to prepare an arrest warrant.
Henry was taken into custody in Tampa on Detective Rodriguez’s felony warrant for Grand Theft and subsequently transferred to the Brevard County jail.
