BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue units from Station 64 in Melbourne Beach rescued a sea turtle found on a resident’s back porch Tuesday morning.
“Using equipment from Engine 64 that is commonly used to move heavy objects, the crew safely moved the turtle off of the porch and back to the beach where it peacefully returned to the ocean,” said Brevard County Fire Rescue officials.
Station 46 is located on 2550 South A1A in Melbourne Beach.
Florida is an important place for the endangered and threatened sea turtles of the world. Sea turtles nest on our beaches, forage for food in Brevard County estuaries, and all too often wash-up dead on our shoreline.
