2023 Oscars Predictions: Acting and Movie Contenders to Watch

By  //  September 27, 2022

The 2023 Oscars – which will also be known as the 95th Academy Awards – may not be taking place for a number of months yet, however there are many that are already looking to make predictions about what could potentially happen when the golden statutes are awarded.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and there will be a number of eyes on the red carpet as many will be looking out to see what the biggest movie stars and celebrities all decide to turn out in.

Nonetheless, while we do not quite have the same enthusiasm for the fashion side of things at the moment, the purpose of this article is to discuss what some of the main predictions are by looking at some of the main categories.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at what some of the best predictions are:

Best Picture

The Best Picture category is going to be one of the most anticipated prize categories, and that is hardly a surprise because so many always want to know what is awarded the best film of the year.

Currently, many predictions are speculating that The Fablemans, Babylon, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Bardo, She Said, and Women Talking are all thought to be in the running. It will be interesting to see which one comes out on top, but many are already speculating that it will be The Fablemans.

Best Director

Should The Fablemans be considered to be the winner of the Best Picture category, which it is at 32red.com where you can find attractive odds and markets for the upcoming 2023 Oscars, then it would not be a surprise if Steven Spielberg was to be crowned the winner.

The Fablemans is provided odds of +175, whereas Babylon is next in the list at +550, with Everything Everywhere All At Once (+650), Bardo, She Said, and Women Talking all rated at (+800).

Damien Chazelle could also be in with a chance with their Babylon film given its position as a second favourite for Best Picture, while Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (Everything Everywhere All At Once), and Sarah Polley (Women Talking) could also be in the running.

Best Actor

With a number of incredible motion pictures to have been released in the last year, it does not come as a surprise to learn that there are a number of predictions swirling around regarding who could be the Best Actor.

Those thought to be in the running are Tom Cruise for his role in Top Gun: Maverick, Austin Butler in Elvis, and Colin Farrell for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin. Interestingly, none of these men have been nominated for an Oscar in this category before, but that should change at the 95th Academy Awards.

Best Actress

For many, we are set to have the best Best Actress category in Oscars history, with a number of talented actresses all likely to be nominated for the prize. Many are already predicting that it will be Michelle Yeoh for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, and should she win (or even be nominated), she would be setting records.

However, she will be up against some formidable opponents in the upcoming category, with previous winners Cate Blanchett, Olivia Colman, and Viola Davis all likely to be nominated after earning rave reviews for films released, while Margot Robbie and Michelle Williams could round off the category, thus making it extremely competitive and a reason why so many believe it could be the best it has ever been for this category.

Final Thoughts

As can be seen, the 2023 Oscars events show looks set to be an incredible event and one that could potentially see a number of different winners be crowned for the very first time.

Of course, it is still very early days at the moment, and nominations are yet to be released, as are some of the films to be highlighted. However, there is a general consensus among those in the movie world that many of the titles outlined throughout this article will be there or thereabouts when it comes to award season!
