Two People Dead After Motorcycle Crash in Melbourne Near College View Dr. and Wickham Rd.

Melbourne police officers responded to the area of College View Drive and North Wickham Road in response to a motor vehicle crash involving a 2012 Ford Focus, and a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police officers responded to the area of College View Drive and North Wickham Road in response to a motor vehicle crash involving a 2012 Ford Focus, and a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered the driver and passenger of the motorcycle had sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash.

The driver, Ralph Mazal, 62, from Melbourne, and passenger, Mark South, 52, from Melbourne, on the motorcycle were transported to local hospitals by Brevard County Fire Rescue where they ultimately succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The initial investigation reveals the motorcycle was traveling northbound on North Wickham Road in the inside travel lane just south of the intersection of College View Drive and the Ford Focus was exiting the parking lot of a shopping center to the west, attempting to cross southbound and then northbound lanes of North Wickham Road to travel eastbound onto College View Drive.

As the Focus traveled across northbound lanes of North Wickham Road, the motorcycle struck the right side of the Focus.

The investigation is ongoing to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
