Water Testing Reveals Critical Information About Beach Bacterial Level Across Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA—The Blue Water Task Force conducts biweekly water testing to measure fecal indicator bacteria levels and compare them to public health standards for recreational waters.
The latest study shows good quality in the north lagoon, medium in the south, and continued poor/medium in the central lagoon.
The Blue Water Task Force is Marine Resource Counsel, Surfrider’s volunteer water quality monitoring program that provides critical water quality information to protect public health at the beach.
Surfrider chapters use this program to raise awareness of local pollution problems and to bring together communities to implement solutions.
BWTF Enterococcus Bacteria Test Results for April 11 indicate the following in a MPN/100 ml scale:
● (0 – 35) Low Bacteria (Green)
● (36 – 69 ) Medium Bacteria (Yellow)
● (> 70) High Bacteria (Red)
