OBITUARY: Cardiovascular Technologist Edward James ‘Jim’ DeCorte Jr. Passes Away at 69 Feb. 14

Edward James “JIM” DeCorte Jr. passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the age of 69. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii at Tripler Army Hospital on March 13, 1953, to Phyllis DeCorte, and the late Edward DeCorte Sr.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA–Edward James “Jim” DeCorte Jr. passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the age of 69. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, at Tripler Army Hospital on March 13, 1953, to Phyllis DeCorte, and the late Edward DeCorte Sr.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Edward served in The United States Air Force on Active Duty for eight years, which eventually brought him to Brevard County, FL.

While in the U.S. Air Force, Edward began his career as an Air Force medic.

He later graduated from The University of Central Florida with his Bachelor’s degree and began his second career as a cardiovascular technologist, which he did for over 35 years.

Edward was a giant of a man with an even bigger heart. He was an influence on so many people and had such a positive energy about him.

He was truly a friend to all who knew him and cared so deeply for others, and he had a way of making everyone feel so special, loved, and important.

Edward’s favorite thing to do was sip a quality tequila, relax, and listen to his jazz.

He leaves behind the love of his life, DeBorah Josephine (DJ), his daughter Brookelynn Ke’ala Kendrick, son-in-law Christian Kendrick, grandsons Koa (5) and Kai (2), and many family and friends in Hawaii and Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, Florida.
