WATCH: Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey reported that one person was shot in an incident at Spessard Holland Park and another was shot on the 192 Causeway in a gang-related shooting after a party at the park. Sheriff Ivey said one subject was dead and one was in critical condition.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Saturday evening in unincorporated Melbourne Beach.

Deputies responded to the area of Spessard Holland Park at approximately 6:30 p.m., after the Sheriff’s Office was advised that a man had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. A second victim was located who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Agents from the Homicide and Crime Scene Units are currently in the process of interviewing potential witnesses and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victims at this time.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that this was a targeted attack and there is no danger to the general public. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
