Eastern Florida State College Men’s Golf Finishes Top 10 in Battle at the Shores Event

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team placed ninth at the Battle at the Shores event in Miami.

The Titans, who are No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, battled some of the top NCAA Division II programs in the country at Miami Shores Country Club over the past two days.

Eastern Florida State College shot a final-round 289 to finish ninth with a three-day total of 873. Barry University shot a 275 Tuesday to win the event at 21-under 819 for the tournament. They were 14 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Lynn University.

Nick Miller shot a 71 in the final round to tie for 19th overall at 5-over 215 while teammate Adam Vermut shot a 72 to finish tied for 42nd. Robert Greninger came back from a rough first round to place tied for 49th after shooting a 70 on Tuesday. Bryan Hernandez shot a XX and Murphy Allard had an 85 in the final round.

“It was a good event for the guys to get a good taste for high caliber college golf. The golf course was a good test all three rounds,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said.

The Titans will now begin preparing for the NJCAA Men’s Southeast District Championships which will be held in Viera on April 24-25.
