Five Eastern Florida State College Softball Players Named to All-Southern Conference Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Five members of the Eastern Florida State College softball team were named to the All-Southern Conference team on Monday.

Sophomore catcher Rachel Lamoureaux was named to the first team after hitting.363 In 43 games this season.

The Bradenton native stole 15 bases and scored 21 runs for the Titans. Lamoureaux made the first team last season as an outfielder and the second team as a catcher in 2021.

Sophomore pitcher Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor was also named to the first team after posting a 2.04 ERA in 31 games. The St. Augustine right-hander started 23 games and had 18 complete games, striking out 122 hitters.

It is the second straight season Hedetniemi-Taylor was named to the first team.

Sophomore Makenzie Fore made the second team, hitting .328 with five home runs and drove in 33 runs in 50 games this season. The first baseman from Oviedo hit 11 doubles and a triple. Fore made the first team as an at-large player last season.

Sophomore Trinity Howard made the second team as a pitcher this season with a 3.86 ERA in 18 games.

The Valrico native started 12 games and struck out 54 hitters and had five wins with a save. Howard made the second team last season and the first team in 2021.

Freshman Sam Clark was named to the second team as an at-large player after hitting .353 in 45 games. The catcher from Palatka scored 12 runs and drive in 26 in her first season with the Titans.

Indian River State College’s Alina Varga was named the Player of the Year and Florida Southwestern’s Belle Sardja was named the Pitcher of the Year.
