BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Tiger senior track and field star Liana Tyson captured her fifth state championship at the FHSAA Class 2A Championship in Jacksonville on Thursday.

Tyson became one of the most highly accomplished track and field athletes in Brevard County history after winning the 100 and 200-meter sprint races.

Tyson finished the 100-meter sprint with a time of 11.53 and finished the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23.84 which beat her own personal best records.

Along with Tyson’s individual performances, the Cocoa Tigers girl’s 4×100 relay team became back-to-back State Champions after winning first place on Thursday at the University of North Florida.

To add to the greatness of the Cocoa Tigers girl’s track and field team, Alayeizia Williams won the FHSAA State Championship in the triple jump.
