BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The first named storm of the 2023 Hurricane Season is here after National Hurricane Center located a system in the Gulf that has developed into Tropical Storm Arlene on Friday.

The system poses no threat to Brevard County.

Arlene is moving to south at 5 mph and carrying 40 mph max sustained winds.

Arlene’s motion is expected to increase slightly through tonight.

Arlene’s rainfall amount is accounting for 1 to 2 inches with localized higher amounts up to 5 inches are possible through Saturday across portions of the central and southern Florida Peninsula. However, the rainfall is not directly related to Tropical Storm Arlene.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles northeast of the center.
